The SJ "Killer Fence," Israel's detector fence, the GAZA attack, Mike Johnson, and "The Devil's Triangle"
"Either this nation shall kill racism, or racism shall kill this nation." (S. Jonas, August, 2018)
(No illustration for this week. I couldn't find one for a "Killer Fence.")
In 1996 I published the first version of my book "The 15% Solution: A Political History of American Fascism, 2001-2022." It was purportedly published in the year 2048, on the 25th anniversary of the Restoration of Constitutional Democracy in the United States of America. The third version, under a slightly different title, was published in 2013. That version is available on Amazon, and is advertised on the Home Page of OpEdNews.com as well as on the page on which this column is published.
In Chap. 15, entitled "The National Plan for Social Peace," the President of a successor apartheid nation to the United States of America, "The New American Republics" (which happened to be called the White, Black, Red, and Brown Republics), one Jefferson Davis Hague, leader of the American Christian Nation Party, among other things announces that homosexuality would be declared a crime and the penalty would be death. As in The Holocaust, the death penalty was not to be carried out through individual apprehensions and subsequent trials. Rather persons declared to be homosexual by a variety of individuals and state authorities would simply be rounded up and transported to an area of the old United States called "The Devil's Triangle."
Further on in this column I will describe the place and the actions that took place in it in a bit more detail. But for now, it suffices to say that (in my head) I had developed, originally for the purpose of thoroughly sealing the Southern Border of the still-existent United States, what in the book are described as deadly, computer-operated, proactive, "Killer Fences." Through a combination of various kinds of detectors of human beings (and of course any other warm-blooded beings unfortunate enough to roam in to its range), and a variety of automatically fired lethal weapons, the Fences were able to seek out and destroy any living beings that approached within 100 yards of them. "Reach Out and Grab Someone" was the slogan its operators applied to the system. The technology was of course extremely complex (and for the book it was well beyond my area of expertise to try to describe it, technically).
About 10 years ago or so I read a story that described the development of such an electronic fence in Israel, that is the detection part but presumably not the killer part. (Of course, once one had the detection part up and running, it would not be too hard to add the killer part to it. There is no evidence that Israel had installed anything like that kind of component in it.) On a quick search (with you-know-who) I could not find a reference to it. But I did find more than one references to a real, detection part of the system that Israel installed on their border with Gaza several years ago.
And so, it apparently didn't work on Oct.7, 2023? Why not? Several possibilities. Someone on the Israeli side forget to activate it or keep it on, or it simply failed to do so, on that day. Or, in that Hamas of course knew about the existence the system, because its original activation was well-publicized in both the Israeli and Arab presses, and, having figured out how to do it, Hamas breached it on that day. (Of course, we do know for sure that on at the time of the attacks, the IDF was nowhere to be found, significant numbers of troops having been withdrawn from the area to help the Settlers with their further incursions and seizures in the West Bank. But that is another story.)
So where are you going with this, you might ask? Well, I am indeed wending my way back to my book, via the homophobia, closeted (the homophobia, that is) or open, of certain members of the Republican Party. No one right now is calling for the criminalization of homosexuality. BUT, in a well-known quote, admittedly from his past, the new Speaker of the House, Mike Johnson had this to say about gay marriage and related topics:
"Homosexual relationships are inherently unnatural and, the studies clearly show, are ultimately harmful and costly for everyone. Society cannot give its stamp of approval to such a dangerous lifestyle. If we change marriage for this tiny, modern minority, we will have to do it for every deviant group. Polygamists, polyamorists, pedophiles, and others will be next in line to claim equal protection. They already are. There will be no legal basis to deny a bisexual the right to marry a partner of each sex, or a person to marry his pet."
Of course Speaker Johnson has retreated from the position taken by him, just above. And thus there is absolutely no reason to believe that he would would ever in the future go on from that position to one that proposed the execution of homosexuals for no reason other than that they were homosexuals. But at the rate the Republo-fascists in general are going, who knows? Under leadership further-to-the-right (and yes, Virginia, there always is a further-to-the-right for modern day Republicans) they just might. They certainly aren't there yet. But who knows? In 2008 the nominated a very conventional conservative, John McCain, for the Presidency. By 2016, they were giving us Donald Trump.
At any rate, I shall conclude this column with the description of how "The New American Republics" dealt with the "problem" of homosexuality as that method was presented in "Chapter Eighteen: 2020: The Second Final Solution," of "The 15% Solution." Featured in that "solution" (which I actually wrote over 25 years ago) is a "Killer Fence," in this case designed to keep people IN, rather than keep people OUT.

"Implementation of the 'Campaign for Sexual Cleansing' "
"As noted, the regime did not publicly announce that according to the LaPorte Protocol it had decided in advance that there would be no "re"'education" or "purification" carried out. And it did not announce that there would be no return for the affected persons. Death, pure and simple, was the object. And unlike in the Nazi death camps such as Auschwitz, death was accomplished simply. No attached slave labor factories. No gas chambers. No ovens. And there was only one camp. It was located in an area of Southeastern California about 100 miles southwest of Las Vegas, Nevada. By a cruel irony indeed, the place was called the Devil's Playground. [Note: this is a real place. You can find it on the map.]
"Bounded on the west by the Bristol Mountains and the east by the Providence Mountains (mis-named in this context), taking up part of the by then defunct East Mojave National Park, the regime simply ringed with a Killer Fence an area of desert 20 miles east to west and 40 miles north to south. The homosexuals and the 'suspected' homosexuals were rounded up, taken to the area by truck along the old Interstate 15 to the north or 40 to the south, and deposited, left to die without food or water.
"The NAR learned this technique of dealing with its enemies, real or imagined, from the old Saudi Arabian monarchy. When it caught significant opponents, including even high-ranking military officers and members of the very large Royal Family who had gone over to the opposition, they were simply taken out to the center of the vast Arabian desert, the Rub' al Khali (the Empty Quarter), and left there. Of course, the Saudi Muslims did this only on a very limited scale, to people it considered especially important enemies of the ruling clan. It was left to the Hagueites [the rulers of the NAR] to apply it on a large scale, with little discrimination. Since it was such a large-scale operation, in the end the Hagueites found it impossible to maintain complete secrecy.
"While there were few survivors of the Devil's Playground, as one might imagine, enough lived to convincingly tell the horrific tale. Almost all records were destroyed in the last days of the NAR, but a few were not. Most of the truck drivers were killed by Helmsmen [a U.S. version of the Nazi Sturmabteilung, the "Storm Divisions," the "S.A."], but a few survived to tell what they knew too. For some time, there was a market in the bones of the dead from the camp, just as there had been a market for the dried bones of dead buffalo on the Great Plains in the 1870s. A few of the drivers of the 'bone buggies' survived as well.
"There is no way of estimating just how many people died in this camp. But given the level of homosexual repression that had been in place since the passage of the Morality Amendment in 2005, it is fair to say that many more of them were simply opponents of the regime at one level or another than were actual homosexuals."

Addendum. The "Morality Amendment to the Constitution," passed and ratified in 2005 by the U.S. government under the full control of a, shall we say, quite right-ring Republican Party:
The 31st Amendment to the Constitution of the United States (2005):
Section 1. Life begins at the moment of conception; the unborn child has a fundamental individual right to life which can not be infringed by any per son, or public or private agency or organization; the fifth and fourteenth amendments to this Constitution apply equally to all persons, born and unborn; any artificial interference with unborn life is murder [p. 22].
Section 2. No educational institution may teach any approach to any aspect of human sexuality, outside of marriage, other than abstinence [p. 10].
Section 3. Engaging in sexual relations with persons of the same sex is a matter of choice; no provision of this Constitution may be deemed to provide preferential status in the civil or criminal law at the Federal, state, or local level to any person or group of per sons based on their chosen sexual preference [p. 16].
Section 4. Neither the Federal government nor any state or local government may make any provision for support, financial or otherwise, of persons not supporting themselves, outside of an institution expressly provided for that purpose.
Section 5. The 16th Amendment is repealed. Within five years of ratification of this Amendment, Congress is required to repeal any and all statutes providing for the levy of either individual or corporate income taxes.
[The bracketed page numbers in the text of the Amendment above refer to the planks in the 1992 Republican Party Platform that specifically turned up in the Amendment.]
